  Dr. Hans-Joachim Seelmaecker (sen.)

Dr. Hans-Joachim Seelmaecker (Senior) was born in Berlin in 1939. One year of his childhood he lived in South Africa attending school in Johannesburg, finally taking his High School diploma in Hamburg in 1959.

Consecutively he studied law at the Universities in Hamburg and Geneva (3 half-years terms), taking the first state examination in Hamburg in 1963.

He is married since 1966 and has two sons.

After going through the second stage, preparatory practice in the Judicial Civil Service in Hamburg and Cologne, he passed the second (the “grand”) state examination in Hamburg in 1968. In 1969 he acquired the degree of a doctor of the Law Faculty at the Hamburg University. The dissertation, tutored by Prof. Hans Peter Ipsen, was “The Financing of the European Agricultural Policy” (i.e. the European Guidance and Guarantee Fund”).

Practising as lawyer on his own since May 1968.

From 1972 to 1986 he was assigned by the Republic of Portugal, related to the Consulate of Portugal in Hamburg, to render juridical services of all kind. Since then there is a close professional relationship based on confidence.

Dr. Hans-Joachim Seelmaecker lives now in the Algarve, Portugal, and continues his his widely spread activities mostly from there.

 - Co-author of the “Guide of Foreign Investments in Brazil”, 
    Bonn-Bad Godesberg 1973,edited in cooperation with the 
    Central Bank of Brazil, the Brazilian Treasury Delegation, New York,
    and the Commercial Department of the Embassy of Brazil in
    Bonn-Bad Godesberg.
